Bishop Ranch began as farmland in the San Ramon Valley. In 1891, a lawyer named Thomas Bishop received it as payment for his legal work. Western Electric acquired the property in 1955 and held it for two decades before Sunset Development Company purchased it in 1978 and began the transformation into a modern office park. Over the following decades, Bishop Ranch became the second-largest employment center in the Bay Area after Apple Park, anchored by 2600 Bishop Ranch—a 1.8 million-square-foot office tower that has hosted some of the region's largest employers.

Today, Bishop Ranch is home to approximately 30,000 employees working across 550 tenant companies. Major corporate tenants include Chevron (which relocated its global headquarters to the park in 2022), AT&T, Bank of the West, PG&E, Ford Motor Company, SAP, General Electric, JPMorgan Chase, and the Pac-12 Conference. The park added City Center Bishop Ranch, a mixed-use shopping and dining destination that opened in 2018, creating a place where employees can meet clients, eat lunch, and experience the park as something more than office buildings.

Bishop Ranch concentrates a form of wealth that takes work to manage: retirement accounts, stock options, deferred compensation, and the financial decisions that come with a high income over decades. Those are exactly the questions life insurance is built to answer. If you work in one of those 550 companies, or if your spouse does, a conversation with a term-life quote engine is a normal part of your financial life—the same way a mortgage broker or a CPA is.
